Upper Chetco Charter School is a free public charter school within the Brookings-Harbor 17C school district. We are located in a peaceful valley just five miles up the Chetco River from the bustling community of Brookings-Harbor, Oregon. Transportation is provided from the 17C School District to and from the charter school daily.

Many children seem to learn better when they are away from the crowds and in a safe, intimate place where they can better sort out their thoughts. Upper Chetco Charter School is dedicated to fulfilling its purpose as a serene, reflective, and loving community that honors the spirit of every learner through the use of brain-compatible teaching/learning. Brain-compatible teaching taps into the multiple intelligences and allows all children to learn in the style that best suits their needs.

Small class sizes (1:20 ratio) with teachers and volunteers who promote the spirit of individualized learning are the norm at Upper Chetco Charter. Our vision for Upper Chetco is that children and youth will experience the joy of learning in a serene environment that allows for a less stress than the traditional system. Children and adults collaborate to develop creativity, compassion, and competencies that will serve them in their roles as global citizens.

We believe that all students can succeed, although perhaps not on the same day or in the same way. Our goal is to develop true lifelong learners.
